During this reading week, we plan to keep in touch, regarding any discussion about our design projects and to keep our social media updated with any precedents based on our climate sensitive design, informing our urban schemes.

Briefly reporting on our progress, many of our design studio will be attending the Revit workshop sessions, which have been made available to us through the university. We will be attending these sessions to further our existing skills in computer drawing.

Christian and Sam, based in Shanghai, China, have been developing their site research, and are now creating a scaled site model. The model will feature their chosen 60 hectares of Changxing Island, which will hopefully be laser cut on MDF next Monday.

Today Emi has been learning computer programs such as Fusion, along with software called Flow, which specialises in wind technology within design. This has been inspired by his previous group research on the Venturi effect, and relative concepts. Based in Fiji, Emi has looked at how buildings can create wind tunnels and is interested in using his new programs to show weak points within his future designs, which could then be improved accordingly.

My group, based in Puerto Rico, have recently discovered the contours for our site in Fajardo, but are currently struggling to work out whether we are going to be able to laser cut a site model, or whether we should alternatively consider separate smaller site models, so that we are able to integrate our urban schemes deeper into these models.

We will continue to update on all of these subjects, and more, when we are all back together in studio, in 2 weeks time.
