This Monday, we split the studio into two groups and presented our current design work to each other, and to our reviewer, either Alessandro or Clare.
We have each presented our current design outcomes, responding to the brief titled.‘radical living’. We have all started conjuring up our individual ideas of a compact living and working space.
Our sites range from Portsmouth, to Chanxing Island in Shanghai, China and San Juan, the capital city of Puerto Rico. In these areas, we have further analysed the environmental conditions and are increasingly thinking about how we can develop a concept for positive development on the environment, may that be through air or water filtration, or help with an existing ecosystem.
Christian has showed us how he been looking at how the polluted air and waters in Chanxing Island could possibly be filtered through artificial leaves. These ‘leaves’ have the ability to convert water into separate energy resources of hydrogen and carbon, through a process similar to photosynthesis.

This design review provides us with the opportunity to discuss our design strengths and weaknesses with our studio tutors. Provided with feedback on our designs, we will continue to progress in the upcoming weeks.
